Recently read this book..would recommend it, especially for roadies.I've just finished the book "It's all about the bike", not a bad read. If you want the basic plot, a man decides to build a custom bike to do him the rest of his life and travels the world picking up the components for it. There's obviously a lot more to it than that........
If you decided to buy one bike, what would it be?
Rules (remember it's only a bit of fun)
Must be off the shelf and available for anyone to buy
Budget - £1 - £5000
Feel free to leave your selection with pics or a link and the reasons why you've chosen it![]()
I'm getting old. I'm seriously considering simplifying my cycling life by selling all my bikes and investing in a single old fashioned Pashley roadster of some sort. Genuinely, seriously.
Off the shelf and within that price range (which I think is a generous range btw), I reckon I'd go for the Spa Cycles Elite Ti Tourer - comes with dynamo lighting as standard
Here's a picture - I would prefer bar-end shifters:

As it is, I have two bikes - a Jamis Aurora that has had some changes made to it - Racktime Addit pannier rack, SKS Longboard mudguards, dynamo hub and lights, Click-R pedals (I went for those because they are double sided and have reflectors built in) and I replaced the saddle with an old one that I prefer. Soon to be upgraded with Modolo Gran Fondo handlebars. My other bike is a Tern C7 folder.
If I lived somewhere flat, the Pashley Guvnor would do me - seen them in the shop in Stratford, beautiful. Maybe a mod involving the rear derailler/hub from my Brompton P6R?
