People told me that a couple of times: that "Leaving is hiding" and that the problem was me, not the situation, so the problem would "follow" me.

Turns out they were wrong. On occasion the people telling me this, were the problem: as soon as I was away from them, things improved. On another occasion the very place itself was the issue: it turns out I don't get on well with cities. Fortunately I have skills in demand in rural Germany so I could do something about that. It also turned out that in some cases, the people claiming I was the problem were trying to hide their own bullying or manipulative behaviour by pushing the blame for the symptoms onto me.

I'm not saying that I had (or have) no issues to deal with, but it's remarkable how much easier it is to deal with underlying problems once other, more obvious stress factors are removed.

I mean the issues in your head.

No matter where you are, your problems will follow.

You can run, but you cannot hide, so moving will not really change anything.

True. Unless you have specific issues per Andy.
I’ve travelled around a lot for work and found that no matter where you are, no matter how lively/quiet, no matter how pretty; routine is still routine.

I agree sometimes people do show bullying or belittling behaviour which often stems from insecurity (out of work) or in alliance to malevolent freinds allied to my ex.
