from how I read the story the customer wasn't given the option to stop her call and was stopped before loading her shopping on to the till, so for all we know she might have stopped the call smiled said hello, wished the checkout person well, whatever but these options were removed,
now I'm all for politeness and manners especially when dealing people working in the service industry and I for one would never use my phone when dealing with anyone but it has to work both ways I not sure I agree that the checkout person had the right to try and humiliate another person irrespective of the reason..
She told News Shopper: "I was standing at the foot of the till waiting to bag my shopping up, yet the lady on the checkout was just staring at me, when I stopped my conversation and said: ‘Is everything ok?’
"‘She said: ‘I will not check your shopping out until you get off your mobile phone’.
"‘I ended my call swiftly, and said to the lady on the checkout: ‘Apologies, I didn’t realise that it was Sainsbury’s policy that you are unable to use your phone at the checkout’, and she said ‘Well you learn something new every day’."
better get a lynch mob together... show them rude ignorant mobile phone users in supermarkets who's the boss eh?![]()
Daily Fail has hold of it now, fantastic!!! 2450 comments, about 3 about her being rude, 2447 about her being a tad overweight.
And when you are having a chat with someone, they answer their phone and have a conversation. What a splendid way to show how unimportant you are to them compared to the person on the other end of the phone!
