Illegal to park on cycle lanes?

Is it always illegal to park on cycle lanes or does it depend on the lane? I frequently come across cars parked on cycle lanes in my city, and the other day I came across a clearly marked cycle lane with cars parked nearly bumper to bumper all the way down its half-mile length.

Unless a cycle lane is completely segregated from other traffic sources, I honestly believe they're a waste of time & money putting in place.

I think you're right, I don't like riding so close to the kerb anyway plus they're often full of puncture-causing stuff.

There is a Cycle Lane on Kew Road next to Kew Gardens with an unbroken white line , but after 10 am all and sundry can park there , many coaches as well , so check and see if there are time restrictions etc ,

They are pointless in their current form.

There are segregated lanes on the approach into Wadebridge and the cars park over them. They just bump up, over the kerb and park.

Not true for solid line lanes: you may never park in them. Sometimes an area has enough incompetent motorists that they paint double yellows in them, but they're not needed.
