I'm confused about sizing.

I have a 52cm road bike. I measured it today from the middle of the crank to the top of the seat tube and it measures 49cm. There's obviously a 3cm discrepancy. Is my bike incorrect or am I measuring in the wrong place.

Measure the top tube.
Some are measured by the virtual top tube to complicate things further

Thankyou vickster. It looks like they quote 48.5 which is about the same as my measurement. Their effective length is 52 but I don't know where they're taking that from. I was concerned I'd got a smaller bike than I thought I'd ordered.

I'm not sure what you mean. Do you think it's a compact set up because that's how it feels. I don't really have much experience
How tall are you, just remarking that it's quite a small frame, which doesn't matter one jot if it's comfortable

It sounds like they might measure the 'virtual' seat tube meaning where the top tube would finish if horizontal. This would account for a discrepancy of this size.
If its comfortable for you then I wouldn't worry.
