Me.....?

In a long-term relationship.

Been with Mrs CP for 24+ years (not married)

We drive each other crackers no doubt, but she knows me, I know her. We just gel.

I get to do all sorts of things that other blokes I know are stopped from doing. I go skiing, ride motorbikes, have jumped out of planes (a lot), flown gliders, formed a band, surfed, flown paragliders, done rock climbing. Been on loads of lad's weeks away. I even get to go on cycle tours.

I think the main thing is trust, as long as I don't chase skirt (and I don't (can't be arsed)) I am pretty much free to do as I like.

Hold on... some things not right. Bikes, Motorbikes, Skiing, Rock climbing, lads weekends, musician....

Are you me?

wait no its okay, I'm married.

I met my wife when I was 17, we were school sweethearts, we've been together pretty much ever since. And I still think she's fab. It helps that she's a hottie too.

Married for 33 years, two sons, 22 & 25, both with good uni degrees and good jobs.

We both do a lot together and apart, stll love going to giggs and the occasional rock festival, both like a drink and eating out.

We love our holidays, Cyprus next week, the third vacation year. We are both avid readers and can be in a room reading with only an occasional "make the tea" or "my wine glass is empty"

Like most couples we have our moments particularly years ago when the boys were small and cash was short.

Met Mr Summerdays over 25 years ago, married over 20, with 3 kids who are growing up very fast. I love being with him, and just his smile can make me feel warm inside, sometimes I go on boring shopping trips to B&Q or whatever he wants to go just to be with him!!

Having a laugh here looking at the singles post, things like going out on bike when they want, funny that so can I and when I get back there is something nice waiting for me. In fact when my motivation is low the better half sends me out for a ride, knowing that once I am out I will enjoy it, and I always do.

I think us people in relationships have got it best by a long way.

Spot on, when its right its a support mechanism, I have a sometimes stressful job with targets and deadlines, my wife is awsome at getting me upbeat after a shitty day.

Happily married for 20 years, met her at university in Coleraine where we were both in the choir.

She can't really cook, housework 'sort of' gets done but she's my best friend and I wouldn't be without her. She's the 'sensible' side to my often madcap ideas and the mother of my two boys, aged 12 & 8.

Married in 1974. Such a long time ago. Still together despite all the ups and downs and some decidedly dodgy events in the intervening years. We get on remarkably well even though our views on all sorts of things don't coincide.
I'm not sure what makes for a lasting marriage tbh, even though I am in one. Clearly love and respect play a massive part but quite what stops that love diminishing and what causes the respect to fade I don't know. I do know that each having their own lives and interests outside the partnership has, I think, ( for us at least) helped.
Are things perfect ? Nope. So that means there is still stuff to work on and it stops us getting lazy and complacent.

Noises off:

Happily unmarried for 21 years... 3 not-so-small-any-more sprogs. Had our ups and downs, but still hanging on in there!

Coming up to our 30th wedding anniversary, next February, been together for 33 years, two grown up lads, I have a head full of good memories of our time together. I'm in a good place, happy in my own skin, life is good and I'm very contented.

Contentment............sometimes I catch a glimpse of what that feels like. Kind of ephemeral though.
