No. Ride further out to see and be seen in that situation. The nobbers who emerge too fast won't be looking above the cars for small bright lights anyway, or might mistake it for a streetlight further away. There's no excuse for cycling with a head torch on.

Allow me to disregard your instruction. It's not always possible to ride much further out when road layout and traffic conditions prevent it. Speaking as a driver I can say I've often been helped by the presence of a head mounted light filtering through queuing traffic, warning me that bit sooner of an approaching cyclist.

If road layout and traffic conditions mean you have to stop and wait before you can pass view-blocking parked cars at a safe distance out, then stop.

We have hundreds of miles of unlit quiet country lanes around here, I can see a headlight as well as lights on the bike a good idea.

What do you say to the drivers of the articulated lorries behind you, in that situation?

In heavy traffic in London bike mounted are often obscured by the cars you are alongside and a head mounted light works well.

In heavy traffic in London it is practically permanent daylight!

They can see you without the miners hat.

OT but not worth another thread:

Some freak today (unlit street) had lights wrapped around his body flashing randomly - great way to obscure your shape. Twat.

Very little, usually. If the gap's too small to cycle through safely, an artic is going to have to wait too!

Seriously? I rarely have trouble with artics. Maybe a honk if I totally misjudge things. My most common interaction is when they let me across the staggered crossroads near my home, against priority. Rigid tippers and transit-type vans, on the other hand...

Normal road, lane either way. The only difference is cars parked on your side..

Wider parking area and a 90 foot bus stop this year.

Could you link the location, please? I can't see the side road but I'm only reading on a small screen device.
There is no side road.

As I have posted before, I hate the bloody things on urban cyclists, especially the pillock on my commute who gives me 1,000,000,000 lumens directly into my face everything I see him. I have shouted at him before, but it just seems to encourage him.

So what's the relevance to being seen over/around parked cars?
The parking area has now been marked. Previously it wasn't.
Maybe "now with marked parking area" would have been better. But either way I'd be travelling a lot slower than following traffic. I can also get pass any bus parked up but be unaware of what is beyond it. Lorries couldn't, and still remain in lane. Note the arrows.

Even worse than having it on in the OP's situation is leaving it on in the Greenwich Foot Tunnel. I appreciate this is a very London-centric complaint, but seriously fark off with your bright lights in a very narrow pedestrianised footway (yeah that's right, pedestrianised footway - don't farking cycle down it either you bright lighted twats)

My 1,000,000,000 lumen helmet light is great. There's a guy I see regularly on my commute and whenever I point it at him he shouts hello, and seems to really appreciate it.
