ever worked on a live motorway ?
I have. its not a nice experience. with a 50 limit the cars generally travel at 70 ish .
hence setting a 30 limit in the hope they only exceed the limit by 20mph.
wouldn't fancy a vehicle colliding with the edge protection and cusing an injury to the workforce. Its a risk that can be reduced quite easily and has a huge benefit for the effort and cost.
the limit will have a duration of 18 months or the duration of the roadworks whichever is shorter. but again a journo won't let facts get in the way of a good lie story.
I agree - and I think average speed cameras are a great idea - especially in long stretches of roadworks like the M25 at the moment.
What gets me, is I'm always being overtaken on these stretches - and I'm sticking to the max speed limit. How come all those people get done for speeding?
It always makes me wonder if average speed cameras are actually turned on or policed?
I invariably get some arse tailgating me on the M25, while I am driving at or near the maximum average speed and with no changing of lanes advised.
