TBH, I can't remember - it was a long time ago.

The man who used to give me a lift to work lived opposite the dog owner so that is how I got an update on what happened. The owner had been warned that the dog was being very aggressive towards anybody who came near it, but let it roam about the field at will. As I posted above - the bloody thing was so big that it was able to leap over a 4 foot high wall in one bound. It didn't even make contact with the wall as it sailed over! What saved me was that there was quite a drop on my side of the wall and the dog face-planted on the road when it landed. It stunned it for a second and gave me time to get up to speed and make my escape.

your choices are badger (1993), adder (2004) or dogs (2011)! so not too much to choose from! ;)

the Badger incident is very boring... we used to live in the lakes and there were large numbers of them. minor nip no stitches tetanus booster... the adder was when we lived in Surrey, we got them in our garden quite frequently and I disturbed it picking up some litter, missed the litter first time around went back for another attempt and the now awake adder was less than impressed. that was 3 days in hospital 1/2 stone lost in weight, anti venom because I had an allergic reaction to the bite, tetanus booster and the dogs well you all know that one and if you don't read my journal in my signature link, day. 349 part 2 and if you don't have a strong stomach don't go there!

ok that sums the 3 bites up

we often got adders, smooth snakes and grass snakes in our garden when we lived in Surrey because of where we were. untangling adders from pea netting was interesting and involved some home made snake restraints (long stick cut a certain way with a 3 way branch at the head).. you got used to it and having to watch for them in the likely spots. the adder that fit me wasn't in one of the normal spots and caught me off guard.
