Ed may I ask how old your are as cycling the distance you intend is enough for an adult let alone a kid?

It is quite a commitment for which you will need determination and stamina. Not saying you can't do it but given there are only a few weeks left of the term might make it more achievable. Will you do this ride come the autumn and winter. Winter riding is grim.

Ideally you need panniers Vaude or Ortlieb to keep your stuff bone dry and for carrying clothing, return dry set of kit, day clothes, food and spare tubes tools etc. You will also need to look after yourself eat really healthily. It can easily become a chore wrt bike maintenance. Good luck.

why do i need to carry a computer around? you ask
imagine a time somewhere in the future where you need a computer to do absolutely, pen and paper is rather rare and there are very few text books per class.... well my school is almost like that! ok, ok so most people write with pen and paper but i find i get nothing done with pen and paper so type EVERYTHING and prefer the internet to text books, yes i know how said i am but i find it works better for me :sad:

@Crankarm
i am 15years of age
i am bl**dy fit though and reckon i am more than capable of a 40 mile round trip commute :biggrin: (i have a stupid goal of running 100 km in one day before the end of next year :tongue: and yes i know it's stupid and dangerous)

yes as it is i am about to spend all my money on 3 sheep but will get a pannier and start my long commute probably after the summer holidays unless i find the extra money somewhere before hand
i will get this one first

and then put my rucksack in a big roll top dry bag along with a smaller dry bag with a basic repair kit in it

i know all about the troubles of winter riding, have commuted in it before turning up drenched and cold but still happy :biggrin: oh and me and my mate decided to take our bikes and cycle 18 miles out to the coast get fish and chips and cycle the 18 miles back again..... 36 miles in the freezing cold with snow sleeping across the road only 10 or so miles from home, we did continue and finished it though :tongue:
Cheers Ed

Ed you are inspiring. I wish I had been half as determined as you when I was 15. Go for it and good luck to you. Hopefully you have a lot of cycling miles planned over the summer holidays to keep your legs strong?
