Is there a date on that?

I have to say that it makes sense from my time living in Wales
around Bangor - but not Bangor itself - Welsh was very common
where I worked in Rhyl it was not at all common (it was like a suburb of Liverpool at times!) but outside the town it was there but not as common as in Gwynedd


any comments about non-English from people who lived on Shetland or Orkney??

(should say - I came across several tourists complaining about "people speaking Welsh" in Gwynedd
and I listened a bit and realised they were speaking English - but with a local accent and a few Welsh words for common things - more slang than Welsh
My daughter was pretty mush fluent - and got very confused when this happened!)
