Oh, thanks. That does sound like a bit of an oversight!

Did you mean an SD card for transferring data, or a SIM card for making calls or both?
Thats how genned up I am, one or both then? Just thought if it does the same as a smart phone would it do calls too?

An example: Many corporations will have corporate wireless hotspots. However, in order to make sure people abide by their internet policy (and don't open themselves up to all sorts of abuse) they will get users to go through their proxy server, which among other things will make sure the user gets a level of filtering mandated by the organisation. Users need to point their device to the proxy server, before the network would allow you to talk to it, or to the Internet (even after authenticating) and this can be done in several different ways.

On Android, until recently, you just couldn't do it. Newer firmware releases can, but its a half-assed attempt at best.

I just tried Proxy Settings App by Lechuck Captain from Play/Market on my Samsung Tablet and once you run it if you then go into the wifi settings and LONG PRESS on the currently connected wifi connection it gives you access to the proxy settings for that connection. Dont know if the settings work as I dont use a proxy but might be worth a look.

AFAIK you can't make standard voice calls using an iPad but you could make VOIP calls using an application like SKYPE?
Ok cheers, now could I say put my sim card into it and get all the things the simcard gives my phone, like mobile network and internet connection?

There are 2 versions wifi & 3G the 3G version lets you surf and send emails etc when you are out and about using a mobile network without needing to have a wifi connection available.
But could I use the 3g from my phones card on the Ipad? I know the Ipad will have wifi, but the 3g allowance I get on my phone, could it be used on the Ipad?

I guess that would depend on the operator and the plan you are on, also doesnt the ipad take a micro sim card?
I have no idea, just wondered if it could be treat like another phone and interchange the simcard to use the Ipad sometimes?
