None of us are perfect* so we should live and let live. As in real life, no two people on here would have identical views and opinions, and its how we make allowances, how we give and take, how we compromise and accommodate that determines how successful we are in real life. Folk forget that those methods don't suddenly cease to apply simply because the community is a virtual one. Its interesting how many folk deride the likes of The Donald for his bellicose rhetoric, yet are happy to use it themselves on here towards Accy.

Take a step back, chill, and if you still can't get your head around it then block his posts. Don't ruin it for those that do get on with him.

I don't think a 'plant' would have called my wife a looser for going on a protest march against Trump. Personally, Accy makes me less likely to visit CC, sadly.

There are other posters on CC about whom I feel the same. I've just stuck them on ignore.

The trouble is that I find his racism, homophobia and misogyny a little unpalatable. These are things that are difficult to laugh off as being eccentric.

This is why the ignore feature is useful.

Then either engage with him in The politics section. or ignore him. The rest of the forum had too much crap on the carpet brought in from the other bit when it's just a bit of old bollocks and it somewhat taints it.

I do have him on Ignore but the posts leading up to me taking that action are the ones which saddened me.

I think Accy's contributions to this thread show incredible insight while still being delightfully humorous.

However, for me the more interesting question is, if people find him so offensive/ignorant/boorish etc etc, why don't they stick him on ignore instead of repeatedly posting about how offensive/ignorant/boorish etc etc he is?

Personally, I quite enjoy Accy's threads. They may be a bit unusual but they give me a good laugh and they're not doing any harm.

Ignore is fine for threads started by the ignored person, but it can reduce otherwise interesting exchanges elsewhere into meaningless nonsense. Besides, challenges to someone's entrenched prejudices can be a good thing, for them and for the community, which is what a forum is.

I know what you mean. Occasionally I will, hesitatingly, click on "show ignored content" in a thread to make some sense of what is being posted. I almost always regret it
