Keep digging...

I think your approach is lazy. If you would have actually posted the examples that is what I'd call 'clear'.

Quite aware of all of that. However I had the self awareness not to post that to be seen to be the really boring one hijacking someone's thread! So thanks can pass that honour onto you. You could at least have gone ad far as posting the examples though!

I was talking about this topic at great length on Tuesday as it happens.
Seems a bit harsh...is there something else going on between you too that I have missed. It didn't seem like a hijack to me, was pretty relevant really.

My brother works for John Lewis, his (and every other partner's) bonus (% of salary) gets reported in the press...can't see why it's anyone else's business, not like he works in the public sector or indeed a PLC. Not aware of it happening with any other private business?

A democratic system however, everyone gets the same % although of course the actual amount varies
Advertising. They have an unusual business model which attracts a certain type of customer. Other businesses will advertise their share price or dividend which amounts to the same thing.

I personally wouldn't ask I'd feel uncomfortable being asked. However, as I work for the LA I'm assuming all job titles are connected to pay bands, I'm not aware of any bonuses either.

I get this question asked often from the managers of the garages I do work for, I hand them the bill and the shout goes, how much.

That's an interesting, not to say novel, interpretation of subject's rights under the DPA, ime/imo, and not one I've heard before in the context of benchmark data.

It is indeed interesting and certainly a "novel" approach as I don't the law was meant for that. Apparently the right to know if a company held accurate information and data about you was the driver.

We don't discuss pay over here, it just never happens at work or even in private life.

I did though have an interesting episode about 2 years back when a team mate was promoted to team lead and became my boss. He was pissed when he found out I was and continue to earn more than he does. He became a right pain in the arse and as soon as I could move teams I did.

This reminds me of a story a mate told me in his workplace whereby he done all his required duties more at times, then got head-hunted by another dept. and subsequently became a manager. His 'old manager' became a total #£%k he still shook his hand upon leaving just to rub it in lolz
