Is it time for longs yet?

This last few weeks it's been shorts and leg warmers, for commute to work in the mornings at 0615hrs. And shorts on the commute home.With this weekends weather I am contemplating digging the long pants out.Anyone else in long pants yet?

I've been in longs since September, probably quite a few mornings in August too.

Think I only wear shorts in the morning after one of those nights when it's too hot to sleep.

M&S cycling chinos saw their first commute at 0530 yesterday. Not quite cold enough for proper longs yet.

Ditto (well, yesterday actually). I'd have been quite happy in shorts during the day, but the early morining and evening bits of riding would have been a bit uncomfortable.

Definitely. About 6 degrees here in the Midlands. I've known it warmer in January.

I've used longs for commuting for the last week. For me its not quite cold enough for longs on more effort leisure rides and I like the cooling effect of shorts with leg warmers for It was close to it 55minutes though this morning when it was below or around zero deg.

It was zero degrees this morning & most cyclists I saw were in longs apart from one older chap beetling over Sodbury Common in his shorts. What a glorious morning to be out on a bike !

Is that not just shorts that Dave7 (which I guess for most folks was awhile back), the OP is talking about full longs replacing the shorts/leg warmers combo, the next development.

Being an old clotter, I no longer wear shorts below about 14 degrees C!

3/4 length bibshorts for (say) 8-14 C.

Longs for 1-8 C.

Below 1 C, stay in or go walking instead!

I've been wearing 3/4s or lightweight longs for a few weeks now, but the warm longs came out yesterday and I was glad of them.
Looks like they'll be a regular fixture now given this week's forecast.
