Ride what it came with for now. It’s not like we are all riding in groups and can’t keep up with others of similar fitness. Your average speed is of no consequence right now. Ride your bike and enjoy it.

I agree with my esteemed colleagues, just buy a decent set of tyres, GP 5000’s will be much lighter. Modern Aksiums are not very good quality. It’s a shame as 10 years ago they were the default budget choice.

Just out of interest (and not wishing to start a rim v disc debate) but why are disc wheels more expensive than rim ones.

I thought £150 second hand was expensive for those wheels as the only knowledge I have of them is for rim brakes where you can pick them up circa £140 new. But having looked up prices the disc ones appear to be nearer £250.

I have never owned / ridden a disc brake bike so have no knowledge of them, what extra goes into building the wheel to make them £100 a set dearer?

Genuine question, I have never looked closely at a disc specific wheel.
