Well I have it fitted and it is working well. No skipping or slipping in top. There is a useful increase in gearing in top, which I feel will make the bike a lot more usable. Chain a freewheel together cost me £27 in total (including delivery). So quite pleased to have it fixed to a better standard than original for not a lot of money.
One little tooth does make a surprising difference.
a few years ago swapped my standard 11-28 cassette for a 12-32 but spun out too early on 12 teeth.

Going from 11t to 12t smallest means, for the same speed, a cadence increase of 9% - certainly a big difference - though not really a surprise except perhaps for arithmophobics. But if the largest sprocket is increased by one tooth (eg 27t to 28t) that's only a gearing decrease of <4% - a difference few would notice and none would find "surprising".
