I once returned a book to a bookshop, saying "I want to exchange this, because I don't like how it ended." Thought I was being very funny, until I saw the shop assistant's face stiffening up with a "oh, no, here we go again" expression. Apparently this was a common genuine complaint.
I quickly went on to explain that what I didn't like about the ending was that due to printing/binding error instead of the last 60 pages, I had pages 40-100 repeated.
