I see domestic trouble ahead for me, ordered some new wheels and parts for my bike, only problem is we are moving in 2 weeks and she's already talking about throwing stuff out before we leave, not sure how she's going to react when more stuff arrives

Happy riding with the bike though... assuming it doesn't get wrapped around your head

Never got this idea of hiding purchases from my wife. Any important purchase (like a bike) we discuss and decide if the time's right. Comes out of the joint account, don't have a personal account

Immediate reaction was ok and she even said it looked nice. I explained it may cause a small delay to the kitchen project but was too good an opportunity to pass up at that price. She said we should probably chat about it later when the kids are in bed.

I think I might let the little ones stay up late tonight, well you've got to give them a bit of a treat sometime.

I've had a mtb in the bike store for a month and she hasn't found out yet. She did give consent for some bike bits - new nexus hubbed wheel for the longtail shopping bike. The other few bike bits that came seem to have appeared as a complete bike. Does it get better or worse as time goes on?

Haven't heard anything from the OP following his 'chat' with the missus last night...

I hope she didn't try to insert the new bike where it doesn't belong (although it is carbon so would at least be light).
