It's cycle to work day

I haven't cycled to work since yesterday so I think I will give it a spin.

I decided to give the (turbo trainer) bound Carbon Road bike an airing today. It's always interesting to alternate between the Ally and Carbon bikes

I commute to work by bike most days - so it's just a 'normal' day for me.

I'm pretty sure all the cyclists I saw on my commute this morning were the ones I see every day.

I've been off the bike since the end of July thanks to a mix of moving workplace (to somewhere it's ridiculously easy to drive to from somewhere it's a total pain in the backside) and a stint of Labyrinthitis that refused to sort itself out so pledging to ride back in June some time has proved a good impetus to force myself on to the bike. I've done hardly any distance riding in and it'll be longer but still a short one going out, but it's forced me to get back on the bike and to leave it locked up in public. Both things I had to get over, so all in all a positive thing.

I also work from home but i took the cat for a quick spin around the front room before i started .

I work from home and riding the Defy upstairs to my office is not going to happen.

But, to show willing, my car went in for a service 11 miles away this am. So I loaded up the Defy, dropped the car off and rode home. Might go back on the recumbent to pick the car up later to show extra willing.

Does that count?

And...... my employer tells me any miles ridden this month count, so I'll register on the website and see if my group at work can get a prize (again...).

Yeah, I'm about 8 miles from work too. Lol

8 miles if only it was that. I would cycle if if was 8 miles but it's 4 times the distance and along some seriously busy narrow roads.

I was going to cycle to work today, but I forgot. I'm not sure I would have chanced it today anyway. First day back at school with all those distracted parents on the roads? No thanks.

The new cycle to work day is Wednesday next week

The irony is....I drove today so I could get back in time for an appointment (estate agent.....) .... (I think I drove last year on cycle to work day!!....) I do actually cycle most days promise

I rode my steel jamis as usual on my epic 2.5 miles each way commute. It does have some steep hills mind you.

I rode my Canmondale Ute bike. I didn't see anyone else riding but then I was on a later start and had seen no publicity for bike to work day other than on here anyway.

Yup, I'm not sure I'd have known if I hadn't been on cycling forums/spam lists. There was a general work announcement about it, but I believe that was the day before and not really sufficient warning for someone who wasn't ready for it anyway.
