Hi,
I was out cycling today down some quiet roads when a car came past and the passenger flicked a cigarette out of the window.
It happens all the while ,and under normal circumstances you don't think nothing of it, but as we're in the middle of a very dry spell every thing is tinder dry.
I stopped when I caught up to were the cig butt had landed and there it was burning away in the bone dry grass..I'm no expert but common sense to me indicated this would of started a fire.
I pulled it out of the grass and trod on it on the road to put it out.
Thankfully the straw coloured grass was not burning.
I wish people would stop and think for a moment before doing stupid things.
A grass fire caused by mindless peoples actions ties up our emergency services from other incidents..
Again last night around midnight I could hear fire works going off in the distance.
No wonder we're seeing all these sporadic wild fires
