Cheap base layer from Amazon, Windproof jacket. Will add long sleeved jersey as it gets colder and I have a rain jacket for when it rains. When it rains a lot, actually, because you get wetter with sweat than with rain in a light rain.

Wearing an old pair of Altura summer cruisers over padded shorts right now. Will graduate to winter cruisers as it gets colder. Haven't got the winter gloves out yet. Normal socks and cycling shoes, though I have woolly socks waiting in the wings. Skull cap ready to go and woolly hat nestling in drawer.

A nice merino baselayer, a long sleeve jersey, some roubaix tights and full fingered gloves for me today. I was glad when I was up in the hills as it was the first really chilly day of the year here, with a ground frost this morning. :cold:

Fleece neck gaiter
Long sleeve jersey
Silk inner gloves
Long johns
More socks

Bring it on!!!

Any recomendations for thermal tights? Should I go for bib longs or just the tights? I've got bib shorts but obviously it's too cold for those now - 3c this morning!

I'm looking to spend about 30 quid.

Sabian-running longs over the shorts. Best of both worlds then.

One of my problems because i'm so out of proportion for bike specific gear apparently - i'm a 38 inch waist, but only a 29 leg, I can't find any that actually fit. Either the leg will be 5 inches too long or the waist won't fit.

The bib shorts didn't matter but bib longs will obviously.

This morning was getting cold.

Aldi cycling shoes
Thin socks underneath Aldi cycling socks
Lidl bib tights
Lidl long sleeved compression top
Aldi cycling jacket
Aldi cycling gloves
Thin knitted balaclava
Helmet + camera.

First time wearing bib pants. Very comfortable without the cord cutting into my waist. Very comfortable overall. Another degree colder and the woollen walking socks will have to come out.

At the moment:

Generic buff if it is cold enough
DHB base layer
SPEG winter jersey
walking trousers
Lidl SPD shoes

I am still looking for a suitable winter windproof shell for wearing over the base layer but cannot seem to find anything suitable.

I'm a big wimp and can't stand setting off cold so at the moment:

Merino s/s baselayer,
Bib longs,
Long jersey,
(Waterproof jacket if raining hard)
Hi-viz gilet,
Buff round neck,
Skullcap,
Silk liner gloves,
Lidl winter gloves,
Ski socks,
and MTB shoes.

Of course on the milder mornings I end up stopping after a couple miles and getting rid of the cap, buff and sometimes the jersey.

grr-on the tram until tomorrow.

However-the 3 days tram commute makes me grateful that I mostly commute by bike.
