Better than having A Flock of Seagulls on your land. They only had one hit, so far as I can recall. I wonder if they are still going.

At least the 'farmer' looked suitable sheepish. ;)

Did he have any documentation to prove he was the rightful owner of the flock, or was in fact a farmer? The last thing you'll want is to be had up for assisting a sheep rustler.
Or did he simply turn up in a brand new Land Rover while simultaneously banging on about being skint and convince you of his agricultural tendencies that way?

He sounded quite convincing. But, in truth, I would have been happy for anyone to rock up and take them away

He doesn't look like your typical farmer
That was a random bloke that saw the sheep run up my driveway and decided to stop them going back on the road (yeah, thanks)
He took one side of the trailer (a bit like the part of "One Man and His Dog" where the shepherd has to get the sheep in the pen). I strategically hid behind the Wheely bins while the farmer did the arm waving, shouting bit

We had 5 beast turn up in the front garden one day, I hastily moved the car to keep them blocked in, I lived about 800 yards from where they had escaped from and I did not want them back on the road. A quick call round found the owner and we helped herd them back down to the field. Kind old guy dropped us a bottle of scotch in for helping out, we still laugh about it now 30 years on.

Reminds me of the old music hall routine:

A - Look at that flock of cows!
B - Herd!
A - What?
B - Herd of cows.
A - Of course I've heard of cows, you nitwit - there's a flock of them over there...

So this has just made me wonder. Generally a group of animals is a herd and birds gather in flocks. So why do we have flocks of sheep?

And as it’s 4.30am and I can’t sleep. A person who looks after sheep is known as shepherd or sheepherder. If a collection of sheep is a flock shouldn’t this person be a sheepflocker?
