It is not clear to me why you needed to buy a charger. Presumably, you had a charger for the A10 could you not have just replaced the USB lead with a USB-C lead?, which, I would expect was included with the A16 phone.

Samsung provide (free) App (SmartSwitch) which will transfer the data from your old phone to your new phone, no need for a "geek".
The A16 lead didn't fit the charger that came with the A10 phone, going on for 6 years ago. The phone geek said I had so much data on my old phone, so the 'SmartSwitch' App wouldn't work. He said I'd need to delete many videos and photos for it to work properly. I didn't have the time or patience, so I left him to it.

A good way of charging usb devices is to use the usb outlet on your router, gives the device a gentle charge as opposed to the super fast ones which may overtime affect the battery in the device.

I guess when you are doing all those big deals Accy you must have a lot of contacts on your phone or do you have a burner for work stuff.🤣🤣🤣🤣

Samsung usually supply the necessary charger and cable.

Never buy anything electrical that is cheap unless you are certain it is exactly what it claims to be.

We have bought 2 Samaung phone in the last 6 months
neither came with chargers or cables
or at least - one came with a aUSB3 to USB3 cable - but not a mains plug or the cable that would plug into the normal ones

apparently this is so that you can use one of your own choice for your convenience

and certainly not to save money and costs for the company
at all
no no no

Yes, the A16 would almost certainly have come with a lead with USB-C at Both ends, it is quite possible to buy a lead with USB-C at one end, and, USB-A at the other end. Alternatively, a USB-C to USB-A adapter, about £5 for three on Amazon. USB-A is almost certainly the connection type on the "old" charger (although to be sure, I would have to see it).

Can't comment on the "too much data" claim, I have used Smartswitch several times to transfer data between Daughter No 4's phone, no problem, and, she is a prolific collector of clutter on her phone, but, there may well be limits she has not yet reached 😊

Isn't the A16 5G discounted at the moment (£30 off at Samsung, so £169), even cheaper on Amazon (£140)

I'd chose the one that is least likely to cause a fire in my home.
That's why I've spent thick end of £100 on pukka Samsung laptop batteries instead of buying £16 cheapies off Amazon.

I once bought a Scart lead off Amazon, but I didn't get the multi meter out and find out it was wired up incorrectly until after it had written off a brand new television....

He wasn't entirely truthful. Your A10 had 32Gb of storage. The A16 has 128Gb of storage. If you were using external flash memory that can be ejected and put in the new phone or copied across. The most you would have had to do on the old phone is to have enough room to install smartswitch and have 500Mb of free space. Most people can achieve that by clearing cache on hungry apps like youtube or whatsapp.

Don't new phones come with a charger?

Lol, keep up at the back, this is not a thing anymore.

Oh, I didn't know you could do that!

Accy, you probably could have paid less at a phone shop instead of using Tesco, but at least , if something goes wrong with the charger, you know where to go complain.
Ebay is a hit and miss, unless it's sold by an electrical shop, like Currys, on their Ebay store.

A micro USB lead can be converted to USB for about a quid, though a USB to USB C is a more reliable buy.
Slow charging is best for the battery so even that extremely ancient 500mah 5V charger can be very useful.

£103 from Amazon. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Ga.../dp/B0DPHC4RQW/ref=asc_df_B0DPHC4RQW?mcid=48d
I know zilch about phones, so does that mean you buy the phone then have to sort out an internet provider etc? I didn't buy mine. I've had a monthly contract with whoever Carphone Warehouse as it was then, set up for me when I got the A10 on contract from them in September 2019. My monthly payment has gone up now by about another fiver a month. The shop assistant said they had phones that could do many more things than a Samsung Galaxy A16, but for what I want one for (after telling her what I use it for) the A16 will do the job.
