The A16 lead didn't fit the charger that came with the A10 phone, going on for 6 years ago. The phone geek said I had so much data on my old phone, so the 'SmartSwitch' App wouldn't work. He said I'd need to delete many videos and photos for it to work properly. I didn't have the time or patience, so I left him to it.It is not clear to me why you needed to buy a charger. Presumably, you had a charger for the A10 could you not have just replaced the USB lead with a USB-C lead?, which, I would expect was included with the A16 phone.
Samsung provide (free) App (SmartSwitch) which will transfer the data from your old phone to your new phone, no need for a "geek".
