the wife and I just finished ours - first time I've ever done one!

There were three out further down our street last night, this morning when I went to get our car (parked at the end as there was no parking near our house) only one was left with a bit of damage, one was in pieces in a front garden and the other was in small pieces in the middle of the road 200 yards from where it had been on display.

hmm

probably was kids or more often drunk adults,, but would any animals go for em?

used to make em out of swedes when younger, then walk down to the river down a really dark path,,, was super spooky

Now gone through every sweet in the house, we must have had 100 kids banging on the door in the last 3 hours.

A covern of witches, a belfrey of bats, what is the collective noun for a group of the undead ? A grave of Zombies ?

Three large fun-size bags of twix, mars and maltesers, various bits of fruit and when my pair got back from their own Trick Or treating they gave a load of theirs away to a bunch of younger kids who called after we had run out. Great evening, I love it!
Here's my scariest ever Jack-O-Lantern:

Must say, this was a very quiet trick-or-treat night, not one doorbelling thankfully (in past years we've been 'egged'). And also it seems, our elderly neighbour who was a bit worried when we spoke to her yesterday, also passed a peaceful evening unpestered. Thankful for that.

As to the pumpkins, well I'm always bemused by the huge masses of the things piled up in the supermarkets at this time of year, it was a totally unknown vegetable when I was a kid, but if it gives the kids a lot of fun, well and good! I'd rather see carved pumpkins than annoying little brats! There were a couple (jack o lanterns I mean, not kids) propped up against the door of the house opposite. Quite well carved, but not a patch on some of the pictures posted above I reckon.

We even got a (small) pumpkin in our Riverford box, a couple of weeks ago. We tried it stuffed, in the same way we do butternut squash. Must say, I found it a bit disappointing, the flavour not a patch on the butternut, and mushy. I think the pumpkin is a rather over-rated vegetable. Maybe someone can prove me wrong in the Recipes thread?!

Nice avocado!

We carved a pumpkin but didn't take a photo, we were going to eat it's branes but it smelt of farts so didn't bother.

I call it "AvocaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrggghhhhhhohNo!"

Excellent!

We passed a great display of pumpkin people on the way back from Pickering on Saturday - the huge pumpkin head of one figure had a couple of smaller squashes sunk into it for eyes...
