coming home on Friday and two peds walked out in front of me not more then 50 yards from 2 traffic light controlled crossings...

attached pic happen opposite Russell hill place ( if anyone goes though purley) swore blind the cars had stopped for her ( she was hidden behind a truck to my right ) although the cars had only stopped for the traffic light crossing 50 yard up the road !!!!

ended up with some bad brusing and elbow road rash not sure weather to purse as bike was aok....

I think all peds should be taxed and insured and made to display number plates !

I hit a pedestrian on the way in this morning on Tooley Street, luckily i wasn't going very fast as i was filtering at the time, neither of us hurt. I find it quite a bit in London, when the traffic is queued people who are waiting at a crossing cant resist the urge to cross! When its raining and everyones got umbrellas or their hoods up its a nightmare trying to get seen!

Thing is i instictively shouted 'watch out' which made her stop in her tracks right in my path! I reckon if i'd have said nothing she'd have kept walking and i'd have probably just missed her!!

Tooley Street seems to be a magnet for Ped/Bike interactions. It's even a problem after midnight when the FNR rolls through.

My workplace is surrounded by university buildings - quite exciting at the minute avoiding all the freshers wandering into the road. I just ride quite slowly, tinkle my bell a lot and occasionally shout watch out - managed not to hit anyone yet thank goodness.
On another note - a colleague of mine has just started a university course - mature student aged 47, on his induction day they did a session on road safety/ how to cross the road. He put his hand up and asked if he could be excused as he still had his tufty club badge.

No and we don't want one either. It would be another restriction, and it would be to the advantage of motorists. I like zebra crossings where traffic should respect pedestrians.

It is interesting to read the history regarding America and it's vilification of pedestrians, I think it popped up in a thread on here recently, definitely don't want that happening here, thank you!

Rightly or wrongly, pedestrians are the King (and Queens) of the road despite what motorists think.

On an average ride pedestrians are a greater hazard for me than cars. They are so oblivious it's unreal and always the ones with their head down checking phone, with headphones in that don't see me. Strongly considering adding a bell to my bike although this would be a bit uncool.

I fondly remeber a large pile up!

Couple of us on the Southampton Skyride on the Common.

Came round a blind corner to a large pile of cyslists.

Going slowly we stiopped, but others came round the corner and joined the pile

Right at the front was a small child, who turned round in that indignant voice young children have

... "But Mummy - You told me to stop"
