Just a little screw?

This is a picture of my right brake pull lever. A small spring tensioned screw can be seen in the mounting. Does anyone know what this little screw is for please?

reach adjustment to bring the lever closer to the bars - useful for mall hands. if adjusted the cable will need adjusting too
