View attachment 377643 View attachment 377644 View attachment 377645 Well guys . Yesterday I done my longest cycle yet almost 50miles . Well proud of myself . Hadn't been out on the bike in 2 weeks so am feeling it a bit thismorning lol. Weather wasn't too bad apart from the last hour with more of a head wind and a sore bum /tired legs. I wont be taking anymore enegry gels either because they dont agree with me and made me feel sick near the end but overall well happy.
To be honest I didn't stop for food as such .Just maybe had a 10 min stop and a snickers bar about an hour to go . And certainly couldn't stomach food when I got home just had a shake and a couple of bananas.Well done!
Taking time to eat REAL FOOD on a long ride is time well spent. If you can do 50, with a bit of pacing you''ll soon beat the 100. From there the sky's the limit as long as you can keep eating :-)
I'm much the same, so I make sure I eat well in the run up to a big ride. Proper food during would just weigh me down like an anchor although the guy I do these rides seems to manage no problem. I'm ready for a big meal once it's over though, and I've never tried the gels, they just seem wrong to me.To be honest I didn't stop for food as such .Just maybe had a 10 min stop and a snickers bar about an hour to go . Fuel is an important part if longer distance riding. Having extra fat reserves and years of experience I know 40 even 50 miles is doable at my average pace. But if I want to go further or faster I need to be eating REAL FOOD every 30 or so miles from the first mile to keep going. To be honest I didn't stop for food as such .Just maybe had a 10 min stop and a snickers bar about an hour to go .
