Anyone had any experience of kask helmets? thinking of getting the k10 from wiggle but what with it costing over £100 thought I'd ask about first. If not then any recommendations for around £75-£100?

Go to your LBS, try some on, buy the one that fits

Snell is the best safety standard, offered by Specialized

Lbs are very limited for choice and very expensive hence I'm asking for others experience.

But your head will be a different shape to others. If you buy online, confirm that they will take back a helmet if/when it doesn't fit or looks gash. You'll want free returns too as helmets cost a fair amount if you have to pay the postage

If you want opinions, google for reviews - roadcc, bikeradar etc

Reviews seem to be a bit thin on the ground, been googling but not a lot coming up, mainly links back to wiggle.

It's no good asking someone else of their experience with a certain helmet as their head/expectations are bound to be different to yours. If you want to feel like someone on the Sky team get a Kask. IMO all you get with more expensive helmets is a better finish, a budget one will protect you just as well. It's your money so who am I to spoil your fun, if you want to look like Sir Brad! Most helmets have the same type of adjustment which comprises a knurled knob at the back of the helmet which controls an adjustable headband. So if you buy on line just measure the circumference of your head and check which size suits you.

I currently use a Specialized, which is perfectly comfortable, but intend to get a Kask helmet before the summer. The rear fixing mechanism on the Kask feels much more secure as you can move it up & down to get it fitted in just the right spot on the back of your head, and the ventilation is much better than my current helmet (only the Echelon). Just trying to decide on either the Mojito or Vertigo!

lol! Not interested in looking like Sir Wiggins. Been on motorbikes all my life and experience has shown me that the more expensive helmets fit better, feel better and the ventswork. I am therefore assuming, possibly wrongly, that the same goes for cycling helmets too. The old saying that you get what you pay for.

I have a specialized max at the moment so just about
anything will be an improvement! I'd just rather get 1 good lid than keep buying different ones for the next few years. Let me know what you end up with. g

No necessarily so, if the brand or style doesn't work. More expensive = a smidge lighter and better venting. Not even guaranteed of a better safety standard

I like the look but they so don't fit, narrow and a different shape to my head

I am going to get a Giro Sonnet (women's version of the Savant) I think to replace my damaged Cannondale Teramo
