You know that first time you ever rode a bike? Wobbling along and now you don't even think about it? You just get on and ride, relaxing and not thinking about riding to much as it's all automatic. That's the future of your driving. Today was the first lesson, it was like getting your balance for the first time on a bike. Well, the biting point is a bit like balance, when you find it you will be ok and not think about it to much, you will just do it. As you learn more about driving the more automatic you will become, the less you will think about clutch, gears, mirrors, speed etc.
Today was your first lesson, enjoy the rest. Listen to your instructor and learn. And you have an advantage over the average learner, you ride a bike so your road sense is just that little bit more sharpened.

Like you I couldn't get used to it either.
I didn't find it terrifying rather then I seemed to find the whole driving thing overrated, tedious and just not for me.

I agree with the overrated, tedious part for sure.
By terrifying I'm referring to the nerve racking feeling, and the fact that the moment I sit in the car I'm really tense.

If you got your licence you too could shout out to a cyclist " Get off the road, you don't pay any road tax". Can't tell you how fed up i am of hearing that one. When you catch up with them at the lights, introduce yourself and tell them you have two cars at home so i actually own more of the road than they do, they just look gormless and miss the green light

I've already had my brother tell me "You don't pay for the roads", he didn't seem convinced when I corrected him... although then again he thinks I'm crazy for cycling in the first place
