Showing my cultural ignorance, but what is the pampas thing?
I think it was supposed to indicate that the residents were into swinging.
Or that's what I was told by someone on a London bike ride who liked to think that he was in the know.
Made little sense to me, as once the "code" was understood you'd be broadcasting it.
And why would you want to do this for the benefit of casual passers by?
Also, when the person told me this we were well into the internet age and the age of internet hook-ups etc.
So I never believed it.
I still don't really know what Pampas grass looks like anyway.
