Knocked off by a cat

Maybe not the whole country, but certainly on residential roads. I assumed that the incident in the OP happened on a residential road, but reading it back I see that it didn't, necessarily.

So therefore all rural national speed limit roads need to be 20MPH due to cows and chickens. Some motorways and other areas need to be 20MPH due to pheasants landing on the road also...

In the early spring i see lots of badgers that have been hit by cars. Plenty big enough to have you off the bike.

Stuff the cat. I've had a fox run out in front of me and I was doing about 10 mph.

Fox! You were lucky! I had one of those Humans step into my path.....

I've had cats run out, on the bike and in the car. They come out from hidden positions at a speed that makes it impossble to act to avoid them. No difference between urban and country roads with this.

I've only had one cat, it was running across after it's white friend who I missed, the black cat I didn't see (was already braking hard) and so hit it with a fully laden transit, the cat got flicked up by the wheel and hit part of the suspension and flew off.

We found the cat which was in a fighting mood and called the RSPCA who came and put it down.

Dad had a dog run out in front of him once, he managed to stop just in time and the silly mutt then tried to chew the metal bumper off the car!

Hit a dog once, broke the poor thing's leg. Felt guilty even though it shouldn't have been off the lead hurtling across the road. Shook me up too, was dark, it just shot out, didn't know what had happened at first, just for some reason my face was on tarmac
