I agree asterix, very sad indeed that so many people who found him an inspiration have been cheated by him all along.
Er, has anything actually been proved against him yet?. When I say proof I don't mean statements from other riders who probably have more to lose. I mean an actual sample of blood/urine that shows a definite existence of a banned substance.

It would seem the USADA may not have the authority or jurisdiction to strip him of his titles anyway.
I'll be very upset indeed if it has the power to ban him from cycling. From competition, maybe, but from getting on a bike at all?

Again, read the other thread. It's all been done to death in there.

How does the stripping of TdF titles work? The news are reporting that USADA will do it, but I'd have thought that's a decision for UCI or ASO.

So how much of it goes in in the local town time-trials, etc?

Have you ever suspected one of the guys doing his weekly ride on the top "dogs dangleys" bike
which his superior salary has bought ... has also "crossed the line" and bought some powder from
his mate up the pub?

Its not very encouraging when a couple of lads join the local time trial club and bash out
a 30 minute 10tt, only to get disheartened to see a 50 year old do it in 24 minutes.

What a bizarre thing to say. why isn't it? It should actually be very encouraging for youngsters to get their arses kicked by old dogs. Perhaps the 'lads' should train harder - especially if they can only manage a 30 minute 10....

put it this way - if that was me, and I'd won all those TdF titles legally, I would fight to the death to keep them.....

For those who want to know some of the background to all this...

As has been posted up-thread - if you wish to debate the whole case, please go here and debate away - but please read the thread and get 'up to speed' with what has already been discussed before asking questions or raising points which have been already been dealt with:
I can only suggest you read through the thread linked to earlier. There's little point in duplicating the arguments here. Keep this thread for reactions etc.

I think the UCI should ensure that the USADA present their evidence in court, otherwise their authority over world cycling will be undermined and this case will never be resolved.

Recently ordered a steak in a restaurant. Got a bit nervous when it arrived and the waiter proudly pointed out it had come all the way from Asturias:whistle:.
