Well it seems like things are progressing... but I get the feeling it's going to be in a slow manner.

Tynan, I was about 1/3 of the lane across in the ASL, the van was in the off-side lane. I think they were intending to go in front of me & then cut into the corner but got it wrong.

Sounds like the car was nicked and someone was doing a runner. I had a similar situation last year, a chump rapidly approaching in my mirror, at least 70 in a 30 limit. I was entering a one lane filter with concrete centre barrier and thought this'll be interesting.

He took the barrier on the wrong side - against oncoming traffic - then negotiated the following roundabout anti-clockwise before swapping a few lanes of ring road and continuing on his way. Thirty seconds later a police siren follows.
You did the right thing getting off your bike, it didn't appear road safety was his priority.
