I am nearly an OAP, I run on the footpath, I cycle on the footpath (sometimes when its safer than the road) I always give way to pedestrians when cycling but if running I will give way to bikes, I assume they are too nervous to use the road, even the scroats on BMX's that are way too small for them I let pass, its safer.

I use the pavement when cycling to the shops with my 6 year old daughter. We go at about 5mph max, and always leave room for pedestrians, runners, dog-walkers...etc
