Here for rides.
If you Google 48 hours in Lincoln it actually returns a list. I remain unconvinced that the list could be eeked out to last 48 hours, and most of the items on it look like long shots for your mum...

Why would anyone want to visit 3 chain hotels on the second day? It gets sadder the more I try and think about anything to fill the days.
Perhaps this thread could be expanded to include other fun and friendly cycling shitholes? I know my mum would have really enjoyed this kind of thing.
The Lincolnshire Wolds are great, the coastal towns maybe no so great. Lincoln is fine for students and students.

Yeah, I looked on a map and will drive through the Wolds (whatever they are, probably not a patch on the scenery within 10 mins of my Mothers house) to Louth. I've looked at Skegness and Mablethorpe on the web and decided against a visit to the seaside......................am thinking of making a pitch for Gdansk to rock her.

The jail inside the castle has a sample tale of a prisoner in each cell. I found it interesting, if a little depressing. There is an original copy of the Magna Carta, if you like looking at old parchment in the dark.

The Kinema in the Woods is the only cinema in the UK to use back projection, and also has a proper old fashioned organist that rises up in the interval - your mum may enjoy that - the last film on a Saturday night always has an organist. http://thekinemainthewoods.co.uk/KinemaInTheWoods.dll/Home

Well not sure of your mum's interests* or fitness.... but here goes:

Cathedral obviously.
You can go for a walk around the walls of the castle and I think there is a museum there.
Boat trip (same goes for Newark if you make it there, they have tours right beside the castle). A very pleasant way to spend some time.
Obviously an olde worlde teashop, there were some there the last time I was there (~10 years ago)
Window shopping -there were some interesting shops, but obviously depends on what your mum likes. Speaking of markets, there was a market in Newark, not sure if there still is as I've heard Newark has gone downhill quite a bit unfortunately.

Honestly I can see there's a problem with 2 days in Lincoln (and I like Lincoln too!). Best to incorporate a run to Skeggy, Ingoldmells or perhaps to Newark or even Nottingham. I think you are in Yorkshire (best county according to MarkyMark, he's posted that statement many times) so even coming down via the Humber Bridge can be a sight.

*any chance you can get some of your mum's interests? Or incorporate them into the trip?

Is The Falstaff still open? She would like that. Had a great fight with some Hells Angels in there when I was in the Army.

I have actually been there, dropping off a rental car, from memory makes UK Lincoln look like Las Vegas.

Another pitch for Gdansk failed this morning so a Lincoln hotel is booked for 26th/27th Feb. My mother will be fine with any walking she is a fit as a fiddle, she is an ex-headmistress and has many interests, however her favourite is having a good time and she already has a list of bars/pubs she wants to visit. I am amazed she has got to this age

I think they shut a few years back.

Makes sense - the links looked old to me.

I was in the place a year or two after Archer, although my visit wasn't as newsworthy.

If I recall, the owner had a pic of himself with Archer on the wall, we certainly had a few words about it.

He thought the whole thing was great fun and good publicity for his restaurant.
