1980 I went to the 2tone tour I think at trinity Hall. The specials, the selector and madness. As a 13 year old rude boy it blew my mind.

Difficult one, stand out - Bauhaus, The Blasters (original line-up), Everly Brothers, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

Death from Above 1979 left me with a broken wrist which went undetected for several days until the agony forced me to A&E.

Brilliant gig.

Iron Maiden have been excellent every time I've seen them too. And Metallica converted me on their Death Magnetic tour after years of hating them. Slipknot were very entertaining too.

The Clash in Camden in February 1980. They opened with 'Safe European Home' IIRC (but it is possible I don't).
The whole atmosphere was electric, not helped by the failing air-conditioning which left people almost passing out in a fug of sweat in the toilets, and the rather lively crowd in what we now call a mosh-pit which sent huge waves of bodies pulsing through the venue. I guess being 17 made these things seem like positives.

Off the album If You Want Blood You've Got It (on the DVD Plug Me In). Definitely a band at their peak (with the best singer IMVHO) and way better than the studio version, just a perfect, high octane performance.

The best concert I've been to was the Mastodon - Crack The Skye tour at a small venue in Manchester (Manchester academy I think it was called), I was lucky to see them before they sold out, and went crappy mainstream metal (just IMVHO). They were brilliant, played the whole album then some of their back catalog.

My very first concert was unforgettable, Motorhead at the Leicester DeMontfort Hall 1981 Ace Up Your Sleeve tour, I really had no idea what to expect and went along for the ride with a friend from school, I was 13 and we arrived late missing the support band, so my very first experience of a live band was Motorhead, I remember my school friend Neil and I pushed our way right down to the front to the left of the stage right in front of a massive Marshall stack, it was a sea of sweaty denim and patchouli oil. The lights went out and all we could hear was the hum of the Marshalls, next thing I there is a growl from Lemmy, a blinding lighting rig and a wall of noise that hit me like an express train. It totally blew me away, from that moment on I was in love with Rock music. I think my ears rang for at last two days afterwards. I will never forget the bomber rig.

Pantera was pretty incendiary too.
