When I lived alone, I used to put my tree up. I saw it and I found it cheery with the lights on and everything. Generally took it down the day after Boxing day though.
There are only the 2 of us and we are not bothering this year. New puppy to think about, but we have put our fairy lights up.

Depends how you feel about it. I like Christmas day, but hate the build up, the gift obsession and I'm not a believer, so to speak, but I'd probably stick a tree & lights up if I was on my own...just feels quite cosy really.
