Strange things do still happen...

Toady is the day for getting the box OPEN, so I'm making my coffee, preparing some tools I think might be useful, go upstairs to prepare the scene for the task in hand...

Turn key in lock as usual .....

... hear what sounds like a tiny extra "click" ...

... and it opens ! :eek: :eek::eek:

:bravo::bravo::bravo: :wahhey: :wahhey: :wahhey:

:dance::dance::dance:

:scratch::scratch::scratch:

Absolutely no idea why, so will drink my coffee ☕, "enjoy the moment", then try to analyse why :scratch:
... and how to prevent it "locking up" again. ;)

Good news. Well done!

Use graphite powder rather than WD40 or similar as then it will not attract dirt and dust into the lock.

Been to the locksmith and was part way through my explanation of what I could see was wrong and he said :
– "Yup, know exactly what it is – you need a new key."
How long will this take, I wonder – a day or 2 ?
Man goes to back of shop, selects a key and starts cutting...

5 mins later, he brings new key, says he doesn't think the old one is the original and it's all good ! :biggrin:

Happy bunny cycles :bicycle: home and refits lock and base plate and all is well. :thumbsup: :biggrin:

Here's the difference between the old and new keys:
