A bit of a look around on cycle.travel suggests that the bridge at Alston to Hartside summit is 8.8 km (5.5 miles) with no downhill segments, and hence a bit longer than Cragg Vale.I also live near to Cragg Vale. It's the longest continuous climb in England and a nice one too, quite scenic finishing on open moorland. I haven't had a proper speed go at it for quite a while but it's a great training hill.
You can also just about squeeze 8.8 km out of Great Dun Fell, if you pick the right start point.
it has to be my most enjoyable climb
