Hate wet lube, just ends up as a gooey mess.

At the moment I'm finishing off a bottle of white lightning epic ride. Must have done around 10,000 miles on one bottle.

My summer bike is never deliberately taken out in the rain. It uses finish line dry at the moment.

My winter/ commuter bike does get wet so uses finish line wet.

My chainsaw uses chainsaw oil. I don't use it very often, so before use I check the tank is full and that the lube is spraying off the chain as it's supposed to. Chainsaw oil is not designed to stick to the chain. For this reason I've never tried using it on a bike, particularly one used in the wet.

And why would you. My 250ml bottle of lube costing about £8 has lasted around 8000 miles.

It's one thing that it's not worth trying to save on.

I'd try adjusting the oil feed screw as it sounds like its flowing too much. The oil is there to lube the chain and the bar not the environment.

After a wet ride (which they mostly have been this winter) I douse the chain in gt85 by spraying every link then run it through a rag for a few mins, making sure the inner spaces are clean as well as the outer plates. ......

I used to mess around like that, but £16 (I think) saved me a huge amount of messing around. Here.

On a new chain I use nothing as its factory lubed.The rest of the time whatever is on offer, finish line wet sticks well.

I use anything that I have available. Recently it's been very expensive left over synthetic engine oil mixed with turps.
Halfords was recently selling Fenwicks Stealth stuff for £2.00 so I thought I'd give it a try at that price.
As cynical as I am, I must admit my chain is running totally silently since using it.
Only put it on lat Saturday so can't comment on how long it will stay that way.

Most chains are factory waxed, it's a waxy substance they put on to stop it from tarnishing on the shelf. Really you should be stripping it off with a solvent and then lubing.

Shimano categorically state that you should leave it on until it wears out then use your regular lube

I do apologise if that's the case it's not something I've ever seen written. Have you got a link to the shimano document ?
