You know the old North/South divide about is it lunch or dinner, being of northern origin I have always said dinner time is the mid day meal, other people refer to dinner as a night time meal.

Well it seems the whole country refers to the Christmas mid day meal as Christmas dinner, I have not heard it called Christmas lunch by anyone.

I rest my case.

So have I, but seeing as I have always lived in London I call it dinner. Tea time is the late afternoon early evening meal.
I've always assumed that it's more to do with time of day, but your right I normally refer go it as dinner.
