Ah. Good Point, Well Made. I get the impression this ride is a bit/a lot smaller, so they might not. Anyway, we wait with bated breath for information about the OP's start time.

Earliest train to VIC from Darkest Kent gets in at at 0815. It's going to hinge on when the OP has to be at the start. Bridge is a Good Idea thobut.

From my experience as an audaxer, here are your options.

1. Cycle to the start
2. Drive to the start
3. (variant) Hire a car/zipcar and drive to the start
4. Get a lift to the start
5. Get a cab to the start
6. Catch a train to the start
7. Stay at a hotel near the start - useful in the boonies, probably a little expensive in central London.
8. Park bench near the start - again, not advisable in central London.

There's a travelodge a CLJ. Generally a good option for cyclists as they let cycles into the room. Current price for 5/9 £87. Presumably out of budget.

ok all sorted, friend is driving me to the start, and my company have an account with a Maidstone Taxi firm so I will be calling them to collect me, and charging it to the company, call it their sponsorship.

oh I am leaving home at 6.30am, to be there for no later than 7.30am. Although I am confident I can do the journey to Brighton in under 6 hours, I do not actually know for sure as have never cycled more than 20 mils myself, so plan on leaving nice and early
