I'm in Manchester Thursday night. Recommendations for a decent pub and curry house?

Way too many choices but for someone staying just one night I'll stand by my choice of EastZEast for Curry, Dukes 92 as a nice bar and Cloud 23 for great views (horrendous prices).

Someone will be along in a moment to tell me I have appalling taste.

How much does it cost to Oldham?
Moss, you do have appaling taste.

Crock, get thee over to Swan Strasse and get into Bar fringe. Get pissed and enjoy the decent dukebox. Then get a taxi to Spicy hut in rusholme and have the lamb chop starter and then something else if you have room.

When we were in Manchester we went to Swadesh and thoroughly enjoyed it, it's an Indian restaurant and have a decent Happy Hour (however I forget the times it was on).

All good indian restaurants, with my favourite being Akbars, closely followed by East Z East.

Get a Vesta curry ready-meal and a four pack of own-brand lager from Netto.

Netto doesn't really exist in the UK anymore, ASDA bought the UK subsidiary of Netto and are turning it all into ASDA, typical of a large corporation, just buy the weaker competition and be done with it. ;p

I can't claim to be a huge fan of curry, but the two main inner-city options are Akbar's and EastZEast (there are two EastZEasts).
My husband is a huge fan of Coriander (two restaurants, one in Chorlton and a new one in Withington), which is not city centre and is further than the end of the curry mile, but I guess it depends where you are staying.

For pubs, I think everyone's taste is different, but the Briton's Protection usually gets a good review (I like it too...)

I'm at the Crowne Plaza. I fancy a regular boozer (nothing poncy). Ideally I'd like to walk around.

Sams Chop House or Toms Chop House here Toms is more traditional and slightly less food orientated and both are bang in the town centre. For Curries I love the back street cafes in the Northern Quarter where the Asian guys working in the rag trade go for a proper curry at lunch. None of this Buna, Korma and Madras nonsense, just a choice of lamb, chicken or mixed with rice or chapati. Spot on.

Just past Milton Keynes and looks alright. Just another 150-200 miles to go. Be alright!

Manchester always looks alright when you are that far away from it :rain:
