Marmite is the nectar of the gods, as fine a topping for hot buttered toast as you'll find.
Vegemite is a poor imitation of Marmite and not fit to polish it's boots. Actually, it might be better used as boot polish....

If you don't like them,, they both taste pretty much the same.
If you do like them, then you like one more than the other and it seems important which one that is.
Both brands are made by giant multinational conglomerates, but marketed to make eating them feel like a statement of individuality and nationality.

Marmite has many more culinary uses than just being spread on Toast though, I put a half teaspoon into Stews, Gravy and some sauces. I use Worcestershire sauce in them as well but a lot of people think that's only for 'Bloody Mary'.

Marmite is clearly superior to Vegemite. I could only get Vegemite in Australia so had to put up with the stuff. Better than having to go 'marmite'less though. It will do in a pinch.

Oooh, we've not had a Marmite discussion on here for a while! 
I'm the Marmite fan in our house. I've no intention of trying Vegemite.
I started my Christmas tub of Twiglets yesterday. Wow, they were so good, I'd forgotten how much.
I have sent a box of chocolate Marmite truffles (awesomely delicious and available from Quality Save) to my sister in Canada. The postage cost more than the item but she'll appreciate them as much as me.
I'm the Marmite fan in our house. I've no intention of trying Vegemite.
