Im absolutely blown away!

I've been on the KC website researching Geddy's lineage as certain physical characteristics lead me to believe he may be related to the Sandringham labradors, a prestigious working bloodline that the old Queen herself managed at one point. More work to do on that.

Anyway, you could have knocked me down with a feather when I noticed that Geddy and Bruce share a common grandfather, so are cousins, or half-cousins! Different dogs, from different years, different breeders, in different parts of the country, and because of my insistence of certain characteristics I've accidentally ended up with two fairly close relatives!

Im stunned as much as I am chuffed to bits!

Well, my research suggests my boys are related to the Sandringham gundog bloodline but its a bit circumstantial at the moment, albeit very suggestive (origins the the same area, ancestors even competed at the same events, etc, so wouldmhave been known to their contemporary breeding rivals). Ill talk it over with my Dad sometime (retired dog breeder) for his take on my findings.

Geddy has been unwell of late and required emergency surgery on his large intestine.

We were all very worried that we might lose him, but he pulled through and quickly bounced back. Bruce watched over him closely for days following his return.

He's recovered well and is quickly regaining the weight he lost. At 9 months old he's now taller than Bruce, albeit still a few kilos lighter as he hasn't yet filled out to his adult build.

He's a bit of a weirdo in that he loves sunbathing like a cat would, so I've had to watch him in the recent warm spell to be sure he didn't cook himself.
