For a potential winter bike? Yup.
Personally I wouldn't go carbon for the winter, tough to fit proper mudguards
If I had a Boardman carbon, there's no way I'd buy a second carbon bike of similar but inferior specification - it would never get ridden.
I would pick one of:
Flog the Boardman and get an even more expensive/exclusive/desirable bike
Get another identical Boardman (real backup - probably only if you're competing with it)
Get something completely different (Cyclocross/MTB/Fixed - Singlespeed/Epic Tourer-with loads of mounts)
But if something is drawing you inexorably to the Mekk, and you can afford the price, why resist?
If you like it a lot maybe you'll end up riding that all the time - you can sell the Boardman and buy some extra wheels...
