I always love this sign !
So obviously put up by someone that did not understand the metric system.
Why not say the clearance in imperial measurement is 175.19 inches (or 2,100 1/12th's !!)

At school in the 60s I was taught decimetres and decametres.

Both for me, i prefer metric.

When i used to price driveways and patios I'd use either metric or imperial, older people like square yrd
Youngsters like m2

Weight is so much better in kg and grams

Well, write it down boy ......
Corr - that's short and fat
It's even shorter now that half (or 1/2 or 0.5, take your pick) of it is in the ground!

Both. Anything of reasonable length or height, imperial, someone telling me they're 1.48 mtrs high means nowt to me. Small stuff..metric.
I did mess up the other week with sub mm measurements. We had some 0.12 teflon tape I needed to order. Without thinking I asked for 12 thou. It came in much too thick :blush::laugh:

I was an engineer for 30 years in this country but brought up in France so I can do both with no problem. Must admit that the metric system is a lot easier and simpler.

Those of a certain age are all to aware of the problems caused by mixing inches and centimetres.

I do speed, a person's height and trailers in imperial, sexagesimal for time and angles, and metric for almost everything else.
