Misuse of track pump?

I always end up using my hands/arms with a foot pump. The ergonomics for feet are just

So I often use a track pump as it'is more ergonomic if a tad slower due to the volume issues noted above.

Misuse of a full size track pump, with the kids = launching 2ltr coke bottle rockets about 100ft in the air, oh what fun but shagged the pump.

I have pumped the car tyres up using a track pump in the past. Hard work and not something that I'm going to make a habit of but it did the job one Christmas morning when the garage was shut (I know, I should have checked it the day before)

Yep, use it all the time to check car tyres with the gauge and to pump the rear left which drops about 5PSI/week until I can be bothered to replace it. Hate the newer garage ones where you have to pay 20p or whatever and preset the pressure rather than having a valve and gauge at the end.

done that with LandRover tyres - 60psi IIRC and quite a lot of volume too. Did work though, and not too bad

I always use my track pump to check car tyre pressures and top up if necessary. I've been using the same pump for years with no issues.

yup have used the track pump to top up the air in the tyres on my car, and a van.

i have become lazy though and have bought an adaptor that sits in the low pressure hose on my scuba 1st stage . tyres pumped up quickly with no messing

We used a car compressor, a finned pop bottle with a tennis ball nose cone, a male hozelock nozzle bonded to the neck, a female hozelock socket jubilee clipped to a reinforced garden hose, with a windscreen wash hose and a Schrader valve linked to the compressor hose. The female hozelock was held in an angle-iron launch frame and had two holes drilled in the release collar, which had a bent coat hanger to remote release using a brake cable. One third full of water, and pumped up to 125psi our best flight was a mere speck when viewed from below, and landed over 500 meters from the launch site.

I can see a project coming on. I have air at 232 Bar readily to hand (thats 3500 psi in old money)
. What could possibly go wrong?
I already use it to pump tyres and wors rather well....

....I should add the tyre system reduces it to 150psi first

Our efforts were amateur by comparison. We used an airbed adapter onto a schrader valve. Couldn't get that much pressure in it before it let go and up. A proper release mechanism would be good.

Do it, do it at 3500psi ! Don't hit the ISS though.

Revive of the year

I did explain. I was searching for advice on buying a new pump. I personally love dusting off old threads on forums but some people don't like it. I'm as guilty as the next person for starting new ones on stuff that has been covered before but just imagine if everyone tacked onto the end of an existing one, it'd make searching far easier. I didn't get a conclusion on what pump to possibly buy either, too many search results!

Now strangely enough I was looking for a kit for that this morning to give as a Christmas present. Mine were given that as children and they had hours of fun seeing how far it could go, I think it included water?
